A fine pair of mid to late 19th Century French Louis XVI Chenets. These sculpted pieces are somewhat complex in design with various significant motifs that were popular at that time. The designer was able to pull this off because of the shear scale of the Chenets. On the outide edges there is a large "Satyr" or "Bachuus" masks at the side of the bases measure a whopping 8 inches in height. The Cherubs are about the size of a newborn Child and both and are of incredible in quality and casting...most importantly the faces eyes and hands etc...are proportional and in the last instance believable . They both are holding a cornucopia of floral fruit and nut embellishments in the form of true early Louis XVI finely cast Chenets.
